How do I sell my
Towing & Repo
business?
Business Advisors of America values your fleet correctly, documents your rotation contracts and municipal relationships, and finds buyers who understand the towing model. We structure the deal to give you full credit for both the business and the iron.
Why sell your
Towing & Repo
business?
Towing and repossession companies are drawing steady acquisition interest, and the reasons make a strong case for owners weighing an exit. Larger fleet operators and roadside assistance platforms are buying independent towing businesses to expand coverage territories and lock up motor club and municipal contracts, and they pay real value for companies with established fleets and recurring account relationships. That buyer appetite has firmed up multiples across the sector. Demand for towing and recovery holds up in nearly every economy, and repossession volume tends to rise when credit tightens, giving these businesses a resilience buyers appreciate. Fleets, however, demand constant reinvestment as trucks age and equipment costs climb, and a well capitalized buyer is often glad to shoulder that. Many owners in this trade built their fleets over decades and are now nearing retirement, so more companies will list soon. Selling ahead of that group keeps competition low and terms strong. If retirement, slowing down, or turning your fleet and contracts into cash while buyers are active is on your mind, the timing favors selling now.

We’re here to answer your questions.
Here's where we answer the most common questions about
Towing & Repo
How is a towing business valued?
Towing businesses are valued on a multiple of EBITDA for the operating business plus the appraised fair market value of the fleet. Police rotation spots and municipal contracts are the biggest value drivers above the equipment.
Will my drivers stay after the sale?
Drivers care about their paychecks and routes. We advise positioning the buyer as someone who brings resources like newer trucks rather than someone who disrupts the existing setup. Drivers who are treated well typically stay.
I own the storage lot. Should I sell it with the business?
Not necessarily. You can sell the towing business and retain the land, charging the new owner rent. This creates a passive income stream in retirement and often results in a better total outcome.
I do cash calls on the side. How do we handle that?
If it is not on the tax return or bank deposit a buyer cannot count it. To get paid for that income it must be declared. We cannot apply a multiple to undocumented revenue.
How long does it take to sell a towing business?
Most deals close in 4 to 9 months. Businesses with clean DOT records, documented rotation contracts, and a well-maintained fleet tend to move faster and at higher prices.
