frequently asked questions

We’re here to answer your questions.

Here's where we answer the most common questions about Exit Advisory.

What does the Business Advisory service include?

Advisory covers a structured review of your financials, operations, and market positioning. Deliverables typically include an SDE/EBITDA analysis, an owner dependency assessment, a growth and cleanup roadmap, and a draft Offering Memorandum framework. Scope is defined and priced upfront.

How long does the advisory process take?

Most advisory engagements run 60–120 days depending on the complexity of the business and how much preparation work is needed. We move at your pace — you're still running a business.

Do I have to list with BAA after advisory?

No. Advisory is a standalone service. That said, advisory fees credit toward BAA's commission if you do choose to sell through us — so there's a natural incentive to stay with the team that built your exit story.

What kinds of businesses benefit most from advisory?

Businesses in the $500K–$5M revenue range where the owner is heavily involved in day-to-day operations. These are the businesses that most commonly leave money on the table at exit — and where pre-market preparation makes the biggest difference.

What if I'm not ready to sell for a few years?

That's actually the ideal time to start. The owners who get the best exits are the ones who gave themselves 12–24 months to implement changes. Starting early means you exit on your timeline, not because you burned out.

I came to BAA when I was trying to get my software company off the ground. They helped me decide whether to acquire an existing business or build it in-house. I always felt like they had my best interests in mind.
