Beauty & Personal Care
Beauty and personal care businesses are among the most loyal customer bases in any industry — and among the most undervalued when it comes time to sell. BAA works with owners of salons, spas, med spas, and studios across the country to structure exits that reflect the real value of what you've built.

How BAA Helps
Beauty & Personal Care
Owners Sell
BAA knows the difference between a $400K hair salon and a $1.2M one — and it usually comes down to how the books look, not how busy the chairs are. We help owners normalize their financials, structure a clean exit that protects their staff and client base, and position the business to the right buyer pool — whether that's a first-time owner using SBA financing or a PE platform rolling up wellness assets.

Here's where we answer the most common questions about
Beauty & Personal Care
How is a beauty business valued?
Most beauty businesses are valued on a multiple of Seller's Discretionary Earnings (SDE) — your total take-home benefit including salary, perks, and add-backs. Med spas and membership-driven businesses may be valued on EBITDA if they have management in place. The multiple depends heavily on recurring revenue, owner independence, staff stability, and lease quality. We run a full valuation analysis before you go to market so you know exactly where you stand.
Does it matter if some of my revenue is cash?
Yes — significantly. Buyers and their lenders need to verify earnings, and cash revenue that isn't deposited and reported creates a gap between what you tell us and what the tax returns show. We help owners understand what's bankable and what isn't before going to market. The cleaner the paper trail, the higher the offer.
Will my staff find out the business is for sale?
Not through us. BAA runs fully confidential processes. Buyers sign NDAs before receiving any identifying information. Most staff don't find out until after closing — or only when the owner chooses to tell them. Protecting your team during the sale process is a core part of how we work.
What happens to my lease when I sell?
The lease is one of the most important deal variables in any beauty business sale. Buyers need a lease they can assume or a new lease they can negotiate, with enough term remaining to justify the purchase price. We review lease transferability early in the process and work with landlords when needed to ensure the transition is smooth.
How long does it take to sell a beauty business?
Most beauty business sales take 4–9 months from listing to close. Businesses with clean financials, a transferable lease, and stable staff tend to close faster and at higher prices. The biggest delay we see is unverified financials — we help you get those sorted before we go to market.
